lyrics
I can't sit straight with this spine it shakes
with something hunching over my back.
I'm great but I can't hear great and
I can't pick the shapes that fit right into my life
I didn't see you running but it felt so funny
I figured something had to be up.
I don't know if this is coming up or going down
I remember we kept the graves underneath the house.
I'm alone the holy water drips.
When I'm gone, then I'll sip.
I can't dig graves with these hands they slave
for something hunching over my back.
I'm brave, but I don't feel brave
and I can't kick this dirt so it skips all over the lake.
I didn't see you praying, but it felt so holy
I figured something had to be up.
I'm not sure if this is coming up or going down.
Kick the dirt all around the house.
I'm alone the holy water drips.
When I'm gone, then I'll sip.
I'm alone the holy water drips.
When I'm gone, then I'll sip.
And now, to the scent of burning hair
I'll do some thinking
Yeah, I'll do the thinking for you
In the sand.
I can't sit straight with this spine it shakes
with something hunching over my back.
I'm great, but I don't hear great
and I can't pick the shapes that fit right into my life.
I didn't see you running but it felt so funny
I figured something had to be up.
I'm not sure if this is coming up or going down,
I remember we kept the graves underneath the house.
Certainly a controversial direction for the band, but this album ultimately rests as my favorite from TTNG. The technical mastery of their previous albums is still present here along with some very thought provoking and philosophical lyrics. I may not always agree with the lyrical messaging, but this is an album which rewards careful listening. Syobnaf
